Introducing JumpJet Rex!
Hey guys, we’re back! Everything went great with the launch of Bardbarian, and we’ll have a post mortem coming on that soon. In the meantime though, we have something new and shiny to show you!
We’re happy to announce our next title, JumpJet Rex,
coming to Steam in Q1 2015! Available Now on Early Access!
JumpJet Rex is a pixel-art style game, that can be described as a mashup between Mario, Megaman and Trials HD. It has an amazing chiptunes soundtrack, awesome retro artwork, secrets, collectibles, and tons of challenging gameplay. Our goal is to appeal to anyone who loved the old-school platforming era of the late ’80s and early ’90s, while adding a fresh, modern time-trial twist.
The original game prototype was created in August 2014, during the GameBoy GameJam 3, which was the first Game Jam we’d ever done. It was a really fun experience, and in the end we decided to take the game and run with it! Since then we’ve upgraded the graphics, overhauled the physics, added a ton of new moves, and basically changed the game in every way you can think of.
We’re about 4 months into full production, and at this state the game is essentially feature complete and looking very polished. All that’s really left to do is crank out the remaining content and we’re good to go!
The game will be built in Unity3D, and will target Windows, OSX and Linux on Day 1. Our hope is that we’ll be able to bring it to the PSN, Nintendo and Xbox markets soon after.
In the upcoming weeks we’ll have plenty of new content, including the story of the Game Jam, evolution of the art design and posts on our workflow and development stack.
We will be launching on Steam Early Access sometime in the new year, so keep your ears peeled for an upcoming announcement!
In the meantime, here are some screens to wet your appetite 🙂
