Dev Blog 5: Beta 1 Completed.
Welcome to Bardbarian Dev Blog #5! Work on the game is progressing great, and we’ve recently completed our first round of Beta testing.
Based on user feedback we’ve decided to increase the scope of the game a bit, and push our timeline back into the Oct/Nov window.
Here’s a peak at some of the cool new stuff we’re adding…
To increase gameplay variety (and give you more stuff to spend money on!) we’re increasing the number of Unit Types from 9 to 12.
We’re also increasing our enemy types, to give more diversity in later waves. As well as the various Town Upgrades that can be purchased
Here’s a quick look at 3 of the new unit types under construction. Also, you’ll hear one of the wicked new music tracks we’ve received from the amazing Scott McKinley.
Huge thanks to Scott for going way beyond the call of duty, and delivering us 4 full tracks for the price of 1, allowing us give you much stronger diversity in music as you play.
Boss Check Points
We’re adding a Boss-Checkpoint system to allow you to easily jump into later waves.
Here’s the original design comp:
And here’s the final design:
I think that may be my favorite screen of all time. Mike Gaboury is the man!
We’re going to add a Day > Night progression mechanic, where the light dims as the day wears on, and the Enemies become stronger. The music will also ramp up the deeper you progress. Should add a nice sense of progression, as well as welcomed variety for your ear sockets.
Well, I think that’s about it for now. We have plenty more to show, but you’ll just have to wait.
