Bardbarian UI / Store
As an artist, one of the most daunting things to tackle is UI design. Luckily with this game I have a pretty decent grasp on what information the gamer will need, and roughly how they will need to interact with the game, which will help. That being said I’ve started on the store layout for Bardbarian!
Pretty self explanatory, using gold collected from playing the game you are able to upgrade Brad and his followers! I wanted to have a stereotypical old man store owner selling you these magical upgrades like you’d see in an old anime. He will be slightly animated to have the store feeling lively and part of the Bardbarian universe. I personally always find it jarring when a heavily illustrated game has a clean and unmatching UI, I find it breaks the illusion and feels out of place, I really want to emphasize that every part of Bardbarian belongs.
Upon tapping on an upgrade card, it will enlarge with an overview of the effects the upgrade will cause, including a breakdown of your units strengths and weaknesses so you can compare units and decide on your next loadout.
An early look at the shop, laying down some base colors and getting a feel for how I want this to look, no background yet and still tweaking colors, but it’s getting in the direction I want to go at least.
